    Eco Friendly witterings….

    17th November 2018 / No Comments

We’re on a roll! Conversations are happening, things are moving, plans slowly starting to form…. its exciting stuff! As you’ll know if you’ve read other posts, much of what I’ve been doing with regard to Aunty Flo’s Ragtime Band started out from trying to find ways of supporting girls to stay in education in developing countries, particularly Uganda, through my work with the small but perfectly formed charity Doubleme.org. But as I’m chuntering along in Kent doing my thing to save the world, one African girl at a time, it turns out my lovely friend of old is wittering along in Sheffield, still about the sanitary pads, but with a…

    Tread softly

    17th January 2018 / No Comments

So, it’s been a while. There was going to be so much time; I was going to be so organised – I even included it in my bullet journal to write a new blog, titled “watching and waiting” through Advent. Then Advent seemed to come in and go out in such a hurry, I barely watched a thing…and certainly didn’t have time to wait… And then Christmas;…never restful, although there may have been a couple of pyjama days thrown in between long car journeys and brief catch ups with beautiful people. And I even squeezed in some Elf on the Shelf creativity, and our Elf (yes, I know my boys…

    Roll Call!

    12th November 2017 / No Comments

So, my lovelies, who’s in the band? It felt like time for a catch up…to gather together our little community of stitchers and make a plan… A number of very lovely people have already agreed to get on board with the Rag Time project – which is awesome – how are you getting on? Have you found a pattern you fancy trying out? Did you scavenge the charity shops? Have you actually taken scissors to fabric, threaded the machine? Do share your findings along the way, post links that might encourage others to explore further. I thought I’d share some of the patterns I’d found and collected safely on my…

About Me

Hi, My name is Ruth, I’m a Teacher of the Deaf, married to Joy, who is a Deacon in the Methodist Church in the UK and we are currently based in Kent.

We have two boys teetering nicely on the grown-up side who fill our lives with all the joys and heartache that parenting brings.

As well as my day to day teaching, I love leading workshops and talking about the work of the School for the Deaf in Uganda. I am also a trustee for a small charity called Doubleme.org, which takes UK professionals to deliver teacher training conferences in Uganda.

I love sewing and crafting – jack of all trades, master of none. I love this raggy old planet we live on, and if I can do my bit to make it a better place, I’m damn well going to try! Join me!
