Fanny and Flo’s Frosty February Workshops

    4th February 2019 / 2 Comments

It’s all go! Fanny launched the first of our workshops this week and despite the weather, it was a great success – obvs! Here’s what she had to say: Early February saw 7, intrepid people, braving the black ice and biting cold to join Fanny down on the farm, for our first cloth sanitary pad (CSP) sewing workshop. Heeley City Farm made us very welcome with the use of their work room. I arrived to set up as the farm cockerel was still crowing, luckily Lee had filled the room with heaters and hot tea and coffee was on offer for us all to keep our hands and fingers frost…

    Best start to the day!

    22nd January 2019 / 2 Comments

It’s an exciting time, with loads going on at the moment, and we’re gearing up for the launch of our sewing workshops for making Cloth Sanitary Pads to support girls’ education in Ugandan Schools. I’m also preparing for my next visit to Kampala. Lots to think about, lots to prepare for, lots to blog about! I’m frequently asked what it is I love about visiting East Africa and I have to say, I’m still trying to put it…

About Me

Hi, My name is Ruth, I’m a Teacher of the Deaf, married to Joy, who is a Deacon in the Methodist Church in the UK and we are currently based in Kent.

We have two boys teetering nicely on the grown-up side who fill our lives with all the joys and heartache that parenting brings.

As well as my day to day teaching, I love leading workshops and talking about the work of the School for the Deaf in Uganda. I am also a trustee for a small charity called Doubleme.org, which takes UK professionals to deliver teacher training conferences in Uganda.

I love sewing and crafting – jack of all trades, master of none. I love this raggy old planet we live on, and if I can do my bit to make it a better place, I’m damn well going to try! Join me!
